Online: Nirvana – Freedom from harming with Bernat Font
8 December 2024 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
£6.00 – £15.00EVENT DESCRIPTION
Nirvana (or awakening) is an image of what a human life can be, of the actualisation of our potential to flourish as individuals and societies. In this online workshop, we will consider if the best way to articulate such an idea is the usual ‘freedom from suffering’ or rather ‘freedom from harming’.
Reading a few passages from the early Buddhist texts, we will explore nirvana as an ethical ideal and orientation, as well as a reality we can touch here and now.
This online workshop will include talks, meditation, and various modes of reflection or discussion, so that each participant comes to a personal understanding of what nirvana can mean for them today.
