SUMMARY:In-person: Balancing Effort and Enjoyment
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nThis one-day workshop will focus on the balance between effort and enjoyment in insight meditation\, to help refresh\, renew and re-inspire your practice. \nFor many people\, enjoyment is often less-well developed than effort – as it was for the Buddha himself\, at the start of his journey to awakening – so there will be an emphasis on cultivating muditā: appreciative joy\, gladness and gratitude\, to bring more ease\, enjoyment and balance into your meditation and your daily life. \nThe day will include talks\, guided and silent sitting meditation\, walking meditation\, and some small group discussion. \nSuitable for beginners as well as more experienced meditators. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. SUMMARY:In-person: Internally\, Externally - A Qigong and Meditation Retreat Day
DESCRIPTION:Please note that this event is now fully booked. If you wish to go on the waiting list and be notified if a place becomes available\, please click here. \n  \nEVENT DESCRIPTION\nOur external world of information\, stimulation\, and distraction often overrides our felt sense\, leaving little space to attend to the subtle internal landscape. \nThis daylong retreat explores the dynamic relationship between these inner and outer domains of experience — a foundational practice in the Buddha’s teachings\, where attending to phenomena internally and externally is a core instruction of mindfulness. Through this lens\, we’ll discover how attuning to the interplay of mind\, body\, and world deepens insight into the nature of reality and nourishes inner freedom. \nGentle qigong will support embodied presence\, complementing guided insight meditation\, Dharma reflections\, and group dialogue. All are welcome; no prior qigong experience is needed. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching. Instead our teachers rely on the generosity of participants for their livelihood. Click here for more information on the system of Dana. \n  \nACCESSIBILITY\nPlease note that Kaguy Samye Dzong where the event is held\, has steps leading up to the building entrance. There is an alternative wheelchair friendly access gate to the centre. If you need to use this entrance\, please make us aware ahead of time so that we can ensure you have access on the day. Thank you for your understanding. \n  \nBOOKING FEE\nSponsor:  £50  – A voluntary higher rate enabling us to offer supported rate places.\nStandard:  £35\nSupported: £15  – For those unable to afford the standard rate. \nPlease pay the sponsor rate if you can. SUMMARY:In-person: Small Islands of Coherence
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nIn these turbulent times it sometimes seems as one person we are powerless to make changes for the good. “Small Islands of Coherence” is a quote from IIya Prigogine (a Belgian physical chemist)\, and is an encouragement that even on our own or hopefully with a few others we have the capacity to elevate the entire system to a higher order. \nOn the day we will explore together how to orient to our intrinsic goodness and challenge this malaise in relationship through meditation\, small group experiential\, talks and dialogue. This might help us to strengthen our sense of connectedness and of hopefulness. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. SUMMARY:In-person: The Three Wise Intentions
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nIntention lies behind our every act\, word\, choice and thought. The Buddha recognized how powerful intention is in shaping our world of experience and our lives. \nIn this day we will reflect on the three wise intentions of kindness\, compassion and non clinging and how we make the shift from the impulse and reactivity that creates remorse and distress in our lives to an intentional life that inclines the heart toward awakening. \nDuring this day there will be periods of teaching\, formal practice and time for questions. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. SUMMARY:In-person: Embracing our Human Nature\, Embracing our Buddha Nature
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nIt is easy to regard our spiritual life as a long uphill climb that we hope will take us from a disturbing ordinary mind and a life of struggle\, to a faraway ideal of Awakening. However\, the practice of seeing clearly\, the wise heart of dharma\, invites us to see our mind\, our inner face\, from a new perspective. \nDoes it need to be disturbing? Does it need to be ordinary? Is the Buddha mind really somewhere else? Can we welcome and celebrate our Human Nature and our Buddha Nature? How can we develop the discourse between the two in our practice and our daily life? Come and explore this together through meditations\, exercises and inquiry. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. SUMMARY:In-person: Where is The Wisdom Lost in Knowledge?
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nThe title of this day is reference to T.S. Eliot’s quote “Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge? SUMMARY:In-person: Rest\, Regenerate and Reset
DESCRIPTION:EVENT OVERVIEW\nRest and regeneration are natural requirements and should be straightforward enough. But it isn’t always so easy – there may be sleep disorders; maybe we’re still buzzing with the high activity of a day; maybe the problems of that day are keeping us awake. And even when we do get a few hours of downtime\, we can wake up groggy or in a negative state\, not fresh. \nTaking a break for a few days – or doing physical exercise – can be very helpful but they don’t always penetrate into the source of our straining and tangling in our minds. This weekend is about cultivating rest and regeneration through meditation and inquiry. \nThere will be periods of sitting\, standing\, walking and reclining meditation and also some qi gong. All experience levels are welcome. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching. Instead\, our teachers rely on the generosity of participants for their livelihood. Click here for more information on the system of Dana. \n  \nACCESSIBILITY\nPlease note that Colet House where the event is held\, has a staircase leading up to the studio space used. There is a stair lift available\, but no regular lift. There are also a few steps to access the building\, but a ramp can be put out if required. If you have any concerns around walking steps/a staircase\, please contact us before booking so that we are aware of any accessibility needs you may have and can ensure we are able to meet them. Thank you for your understanding. \n  \nBOOKING\nYou may attend the Saturday or both days. However\, Ajahn Sucitto asks that you do not commit to the Sunday session without attending the previous day. Hence\, in the ticket options below you will be able to book for Saturday only\, or for both Saturday and Sunday. Please also note that the retreat is non-residential. \n  \nBOOKING FEE\nSponsor for Saturday only:  £50 – A voluntary higher rate enabling us to offer supported rate places.\nStandard for Saturday only:  £35\nSupported for Saturday only:  £15 – For those unable to afford the standard rate. \nSponsor for Saturday & Sunday:  £100 – A voluntary higher rate enabling us to offer supported rate places.\nStandard for Saturday & Sunday:  £70\nSupported for Saturday & Sunday:  £30 – For those unable to afford the standard rate. \nPlease pay the sponsor rate if you can. SUMMARY:Online: Necessary Fervour - The Zeal of Relationship
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nThis online Insight Dialogue meditation workshop invites us to explore the sources of our energy and commitment to the Buddhist path. Insight Dialogue is an interpersonal meditation practice that brings together meditation\, the Buddha’s teachings\, and human relatedness to support insight. \nWe often think of relationships contributing to our spiritual path through love\, compassion\, and the soothing of friendship. All of this is true. But relationships can also be a necessary source of zeal\, especially for those who have rejected religion as too emotional\, too non-rational\, or politically and socially unworkable. \nThe Buddha was intense in his commitment to awakening. He urged his followers to intensity.  He knew the purpose of the path and what it takes to break through the sludge of conditioning. An arms-length approach won’t suffice. Many have turned away from religion and its profound dangers of magical thinking\, blind faith\, and bigotry. But we still need the commitment and energy usually provided by religious belief. \nThis all-in attitude has an emotional basis\, what some might call heart\, that brings commitment and energy. In our time together we’ll explore how relational practice can reconnect us with the wholesome elements of religious emotion yet still allow uncompromising existential inquiry\, rational inquiry\, and a profound and ripened common sense. \nThrough Dhamma reflection and guidance\, relational and silent meditation\, and an opportunity for discussion\, we’ll explore: \n\nWhat gives you energy for this path?\nCan we be emotionally committed without being dogmatic?\nHow does practicing with others ignite what practicing alone cannot?\n\nIn our time together we will explore the experience of relational contact as a source of zeal and coolness – samvega and pasada – on our Buddhist path\, even for those who feel secular in orientation. In a world torn apart by root relational fracture\, we need this power at our back. \nThe workshop is suitable for all levels of experience. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching. SUMMARY:Online: Liberating Wisdom for our Times - an Insight Dialogue Retreat Day
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nThis online Insight Dialogue (ID) retreat day will offer an opportunity to explore together how the Buddha’s teachings on the three marks of existence; impermanence\, suffering and not self can provide resource\, resilience and liberation in these times. \nSix Insight Dialogue meditation guidelines will support us in bringing kind awareness into the heart of speaking and listening\, often in pairs. \nMeditation deepens\, as we contemplate the Dharma together\, allowing experiential insight into the teachings to arise. Meditating together we can recognise and unbind the relational knots that cause suffering. \nID supports the weaving of a vibrant community of Dharma friendship as we collaborate in the awakening process together. Awakening not only for ourselves but for each other\, our communities and the wider world. ID is a practice for our times. \nInsight Dialogue (ID) is a relational meditation practice that extends the benefits of solitary meditation into our relational lives. It is designed to help us awaken together and integrate our understanding of Dharma teachings in a direct and immediate way. \nWe meditate together\, recognising and unbinding the relational knots that cause suffering in our lives. In ID practice we engage with the Buddha’s teachings experientially\, accessing their relevance to our wider lives. \nThe day is suitable for those with meditation experience\, but prior ID practice familiarity is not required. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. SUMMARY:Online: Finding Joy and Equanimity in a Turbulent World
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nIt appears to be increasingly difficult to find any peace and tranquillity in a world that is never ending turmoil\, societal\, political and economic. \nEarly Buddhist teachings place much emphasis on the importance of the cultivation of friendliness and compassion\, but what often gets neglected are the teachings on both joy and equanimity\, which are of equal importance. \nOut of a deep appreciation for the joys and sufferings of the world\, arises a deep sense of equanimity that neither clings to suffering or joy\, and is a balanced engagement with what we encounter in our lives – both the joys and sorrows. This day will focus on the practice of joy and equanimity. All are welcome. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. SUMMARY:In-person: This Precious Human Life - Contemplating Our Mortality
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nWhat does it mean to live in the full awareness that we are not here forever? The Buddha’s teachings encourage us to regularly contemplate the reality of death: the practice of “maranasati\,” in the service of living an awakened life. \nReflecting wholeheartedly on this fundamental dimension of existence clarifies what is truly important\, and supports us to live with wisdom\, courage\, and an open heart. \nIn this day retreat there will be teachings and interactive exercises exploring the theme\, with time for meditation and contemplation in silence. \nSuitable for anyone with experience of silent meditation practice. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity.
