Online: Managing conflict, and the joys of renunciation with Ajahn Amaro

8 August 2020 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm

This online retreat will last half a day and will be held via zoom.  Please register via the tickets below and you will be sent a zoom link on the evening of Friday 7th August.

With human life, different sorts of conflict come as part of the package – inner conflict, family conflict, social conflict – many kinds! This half day will explore how the experience of conflict is best handled (both internally and externally) and meditation practices and skilful communication strategies to help bring about resolution.

The English word ‘renunciation’ carries with it connotations of diminution and lack – giving up something that you are used to, or that you really like. The Buddhist reading of the word evokes more the quality of simplicity and is tied to the insight into anattā and its attribute of ‘non-owning’. This half day will look at feelings of owning, entitlement, complication and dependency, as well as explore meditation practices and activities that lead to inner and outer simplicity and independence.

Events at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching. Instead our teachers rely on the generosity of participants for their livelihood. Please click here to offer Dana to Amaravati Buddhist  Monastery. Click here for more information about Dana.

As at any other retreat or workshop we encourage you to offer Dana to teachers at these events so that they have financial support during this period.  Similarly London Insight is also making a charge for online events to cover our overhead costs so that we will be able to continue to offer a rich and varied programme of live events and workshops once this challenging time is over.
