DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION \nThe path of meditative development and liberation described in the Buddhist teachings rests\, among others\, on the beautiful quality of generosity. \nAccording to the Pali suttas the “talk on giving” (dana katha)\, emphasising the value of generosity\, were  the first teachings offered  by the Buddha in his “graduated exposition” of the Dhamma. Only after the listeners had come to appreciate this virtue would other aspects of the teachings be introduced. \nExploring and nourishing  the heart’s capacity for generosity can be seen as a way of being that opens the heart\, freeing it from aversion\, fear and contraction. The generous heart can dare to question more fully and discover more easily  a natural care for ourselves\, a boundless love for all beings and the empowering wish to serve and to share. \nGenerosity\, as an aspect of freedom and awakening\, will support and complement our capacity for kindness\, care\, compassion and joy. It can transform the very way we perceive the world. \nDuring our day together we  will explore the heart-mind’s capacity for generous presence and engagement.  There will be periods of sitting and walking meditation\, meditation instructions\, guided practices\, reflections and an opportunity to ask questions. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES \nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching. Instead our teachers rely on the generosity of participants for their livelihood. Click here for more information on the system of Dana. \n  \nEVENT PRICES \nSponsor: £50 – A voluntary higher rate enabling us to offer supported rate places.\nStandard:  £35\nSupported: £15 – For those unable to afford the standard rate. \nPlease pay the sponsored rate if you can. If you are unable to afford the supported rate please let us know. We try to ensure that no one is turned away because of lack of funds\, providing places are available. \nSome tickets will be available in the morning of the event at the venue (exact cash only).
