DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION\nBuddhist teachings talk a lot about effort\, striving\, ardency\, exertion\, diligence… But it’s not clear whether this language is useful in our current culture of productivity and self-exploitation. Ingrained patterns of trying harder push us toward depletion\, so we rest or procrastinate\, then we feel guilty\, engage in negative self-talk\, and start the cycle all over again. \nLet us envision a relationship to practice free from classical images of the disciplined\, unflagging\, and controlled practitioner; free from the work ethic we often drag into our spiritual life. Can we? What would replace those? \nInstead of effort and discipline\, Bernat Font will suggest framing our practice in terms of courage\, enquiring into which models are truly inspiring and empowering for each of us. This workshop will explore\, but also question and redefine\, teachings such as the Four Right Efforts and the third Awakening Factor: vīriya – commonly translated ‘energy’. \n  \nTEACHER SUPPORT AND EVENT PRICES\nEvents at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching.
