Grateful heart, joyful heart with James Baraz & Jane Baraz
In these crazy, uncertain times, it’s easy to get discouraged and frustrated with how powerfully the forces of greed and hatred can influence our society. This is a time when remembering all the blessings in our lives can help us hold the challenges in a much wider perspective. As the Buddha said, “To be grateful is a blessing supreme.”
Research shows that those who practice gratitude increase their feelings of joyfulness, enthusiasm, interest, attentiveness and energy. Gratitude also activates other positive emotions such as kindness, compassion, generosity, awe, delight, love and contentment. With gratitude we tend to see what is filling and fueling our lives rather than what is missing.
We don’t have to wait for moments of gratitude to descend on us. We can consciously cultivate it through practice. In this daylong, we will share periods of silent meditation and learn a variety of practices drawn from
Buddhist psychology as well as neuroscience and contemporary psychology to help us establish the habit of noticing what’s good in our lives.
We invite you to come share the day with us and deepen your connection to all the goodness inside and around you.
