The art of inquiry: looking deeply, seeing clearly, living freely with Martin Aylward

22 April 2017 9:30 am - 27 April 2017 5:00 pm

Two full days and four evenings: Sat-Sun (22nd & 23rd April), 10-5pm,  Mon-Thurs (24th – 27th) 7-9pm

Mindfulness practice first cultivates steady, focussed attention, to then inquire into whatever arises. While much instruction trains the attention, we often don’t know how to inquire skilfully and fruitfully into our experience.

This course will train the skill of deep inquiry, using Meditation, Reflection and Dialogueto explore profound and powerful themes, including:

– 3 foundational inquiries: What is happening, how am I meeting it, who is it happening to?
– 3 lenses of inquiry: Kinaesthetic, Felt Sense and Reflective (Body, heart and mind).
– Inquiry perspectives: Doing and non-doing, existence and non-existence, the dualistic and the non-dual.
– Inquiring into our reference points for reality: body, mind, self, world, time and space.

In addition, we will inquire in ways that are:
-Personal; Exploring your own life, inner and outer.
-Interpersonal; Exploring the dynamics of your relationships.
-Impersonal; Exploring the essential nature of experience.

We will have the two full days of Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd, plus the following weekday evenings, Monday to Thursday. This format allows a deep dive into practice, teachings and inquiry, with the support of the group and Martin’s teachings, while maintaining the rhythms and duties of our everyday lives, where we see the practice themes in action.

Participants need to commit to the whole course (a maximum of one evening absence for prior commitments will be accepted).

Events at London Insight are offered in a spirit of generosity. The price you pay goes towards the running of the event but does not include any payment to the teachers for their teaching. Instead our teachers rely on the generosity of participants for their livelihood.  Martin’s requested scale for this is £150-£350, though nobody will be turned away for reasons of financial limitation. Those who are able to offer more give great support to both the teacher and those students with less financial means

Standard: £160.00 – This covers our costs but not the cost of providing supported places
Sponsor: £188.00 – A voluntary higher rate enabling us to offer supported rate places

Please pay the sponsor rate if you can.

If you are unable to afford the supported rate please let us know. We try to ensure that no one is turned away because of lack of funds.
