Stephen Batchelor and Don Cupitt are leading proponents of secular Buddhism and radical Christian theology respectively. In this unique public dialogue, they will discuss some of the questions that engage them both. What forms of religious practice are possible and appropriate for us today? What might “religion” or “spirituality” mean to those of us whose worldview has been shaped by the scientific discoveries, philosophical currents and social changes of the last two centuries? What can contemporary Buddhism and Christianity learn from each other? Questions, comments and reflections from the audience will also form a major part of the event.
The dialogue will be chaired by Madeleine Bunting, an associate editor and columnist for the *Guardian* and author of three books. There will be a collection for the Khuphuka Project and Shelter.
Please note that a sound recording of the entire event, including audience questions, will be made. Please note that by booking for this event you are giving consent to having any contribution you make to the dialogue recorded in this way.
