On 6th September, Leigh Brasington teaches a meditation day at King Alfred School on the subject of the Jhanas, or meditative absorptions. Leigh, who is based in the US, led an event for us last year which was very favourably received, so we’re delighted to welcome him back.
If you haven’t come across Leigh’s teachings before, you can find out more about him from his full and informative website. The subject of the Jhanas is one of perennial interest to many students: some come across them in their studies, others may have meditation experiences which can only be understood in these terms. Leigh does not claim, in a single day, to offer any more than an introduction, but this is something on which many meditators might hope to build. He has written extensively around the topic, and many of these writings are available online here. You can also find many of his talks on the Dharma Seed website.
In the autumn of 2015, Leigh’s new book - Right Concentration: A Practical Guide to the Jhanas - will be published by Shambhala Publications, and hopefully also as an eBook.
Do come along to listen to this very knowledgeable and helpful teacher. You can book here.
